Everything You Need To Know About The Spot Cream

If you’re dealing with stubborn dark spots that won’t fade, you’re not alone.

What is The Spot Cream?

The Spot Cream is a prescription treatment formulated by dermatologists to treat dark spots and hyperpigmentation, such as melasma, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. Packed with hydroquinone and other powerful ingredients, this bestselling treatment works beneath the surface to target discoloration at the source, helping skin appear brighter, clearer, and more even over time. It’s no surprise that millions of patients have turned to The Spot Cream as part of their routine.

At Musely, we believe in the treatments we provide and the transformations they can help patients achieve. That’s why The Spot Cream includes a 60-Day Result Guarantee, giving you added confidence as you begin your treatment. Make sure to complete the eNurse check-up program and use your treatment consistently for 60 days to be eligible.

Expectations

1. Visible results can take up to 6-8 weeks.  For those with stubborn melasma, your dermatologist might suggest a few cycles of HQ (hydroquinone) on and off to maintain your results long-term.

2. HQ Safety Notice: Check with your dermatologist for when you should take breaks from using HQ. Rare possibility of ochronosis if the HQ is overused.

3. There are multiple formulas for this treatment. Discuss with your dermatologist if you would like to request a stronger or a more mild formula, depending on your results and/or any side effects you experience. Make sure to wait 6-8 weeks before requesting a stronger formula.

4. There can be a temporary darkening effect prior to the pigment improving, especially if there is irritation or dryness. Keep going.

5. Side effects include peeling, redness, dryness, and irritation. For information on managing side effects, please use eNurse Check-Ups in the Musely app.

Do’s

  • Start slowly! Apply every other day until your skin adjusts. If you are not experiencing excess irritation, you can increase usage to daily and then twice daily.

  • Apply only on the face.

  • Shake the bottle before each use.

Don'ts

  • If you have the M+ formula:

    • Do not wax.

    • Do not apply during daylight hours.

    • Apply before bed to minimize UV exposure.

  • Do not use benzoyl peroxide and other acids.

  • It is not recommended to do cosmetic procedures (laser, peel, microneedling) for 4-7 days before or after using The Spot Cream.

  • Do not apply more than instructed.

  • Do not apply around the mouth and eyes or the neck.

  • Do not apply to damaged or broken skin, including sunburn or open wounds.

  • Stop using if you notice extreme itching, stinging or pain. Consult with your Board-Certified Dermatologist.

  • Stop use or switch to the HQ Free formula if pregnant or nursing.

How to Use

Cleanse

1. Thoroughly wash your face with a gentle cleanser and gently pat dry.  Allow skin to dry for 2-4 minutes.

Apply The Spot Cream

2. Use upward-lifting motions to gently massage 1 full pump of The Spot Cream to the treatment area, or as directed by your doctor. M+ should only be applied at night, before you go to bed, to minimize UV exposure.

Moisturize

3. Wash hands to remove any remaining medication.

4. Apply a thick moisturizer to the entire face 5 minutes after application of The Spot Cream. We recommend CeraVe Moisturizing Cream or Aquaphor Healing Ointment.

5. The next morning, cleanse the skin and pat dry. Apply SPF 30+ while using The Spot Cream, as any sun exposure can result in damaged skin and/or recurrence of dark spots. Reapply sunscreen every two hours when spending time outdoors.
