Unwanted facial hair
I am so satisfied with this product. I have always had problems with excessive hair on my chin and upper lip. I have been using the cream for several months and there has been a dramatic lessening of hair growth and the little that appears is light, very soft & easy to tweeze. You have to be patient, you will see results.

The Facial Hair Cream — frequently asked questions

What are common options to get rid of facial hair?

Skincare professionals also suggest the following as effective and safe skincare practices for getting rid of unwanted facial hair:

  • Shaving: This is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to remove facial hair. It provides temporary results as the hair will grow back quickly.
  • Tweezing: Using a pair of tweezers to pluck out individual hairs can be effective for small areas. This method is time-consuming for large areas.
  • Waxing: Getting the face waxed by a professional (or using wax strips) removes hair from larger areas and provides results that last several weeks. This can also create smoother skin but is more painful than other methods.
  • Epilation creams: Depilatories or hair removal creams that dissolve the hair can be applied at home. These require careful following of instructions to avoid skin irritation.
  • Laser hair removal: Professional laser treatments can provide long-term reduction of facial hair growth. Multiple sessions are typically needed for best results.
  • Electrolysis: This method uses an electric current to destroy the hair follicle, providing permanent hair removal. It's effective but can be time-consuming for large areas.
  • Prescription medications: In some cases, a dermatologist may recommend prescription topical creams like Musely's The Facial Hair Cream, or oral medications to help reduce excessive facial hair growth.

The best method depends on the individual's skin sensitivity, hair thickness, and desired level of permanence. Consulting with a Musely dermatologist can help determine the most suitable option to use alongside The Facial Hair Cream.

Does The Facial Hair Cream work?

Short answer, Yes! We have many real patient reviews and before and after pictures from happy customers who have had great success with our facial hair removal cream product. Many of these reviews are above. Here are some sample reviews:

“I love this product!! I have PCOS and have spent thousands of dollars trying to control my facial hair and nothing worked. I was beyond frustrated until I found this product. I have been using it appropriately a month and I see an amazing difference. My skin is finally smooth!! I have regained my confidence, and actually let my husband touch my face again. Will continue to use this wonderful product...thank you!”

“As a woman with darker facial hair, I have always felt insecure with my facial hair. Laser treatments were getting so expensive, I couldn't keep up with them. Finally, I found Musely and started to see my facial hair stop growing as quick!”

I want to get prescription facial hair cream. What do I need to know?

When considering a prescription cream to get rid of facial hair, here's what you need to know:

Some prescription facial hair removal creams can cause redness, dryness, peeling, or other skin irritation, especially with prolonged or improper use. The skin on the face is delicate, so monitoring for any signs of irritation is important.

Certain prescription creams work by affecting the hormones that stimulate hair growth. This can potentially cause side effects like acne, irregular menstrual cycles, or mood changes in some people.

Some prescription facial hair removal creams may interact with other medications the person is taking, either reducing their effectiveness or causing adverse reactions. It's crucial to disclose all current medications to your Musely dermatologist.

Prescription facial hair reduction creams often take several weeks or months to show noticeable results, as they work gradually to inhibit hair growth. Patience is required when using these products.

While prescription creams can reduce overall facial hair, they may not completely eliminate all unwanted hair. Some stubborn or coarse hairs may remain.

For continued hair reduction, most prescription creams require extended, consistent use. The long-term safety and efficacy of these products should be discussed with your Musely dermatologist.

Closely following your dermatologist's instructions and monitoring any side effects is necessary when using a prescription cream for facial hair.

What is eflornithine cream?
Eflornithine cream, also referred to as Vaniqa cream, is a topical medication primarily used to reduce unwanted facial hair in women. It works by inhibiting an enzyme called ornithine decarboxylase, which is involved in hair growth. By blocking this enzyme, eflornithine slows down hair growth, making the hair finer and less noticeable over time.
Do I need a prescription for eflornithine cream?
Yes, products with eflornithine require a prescription from an approved medical practitioner. Our Musely board-certified dermatologists can help!
Can Musely's The Facial Hair Cream be used on dry or sensitive skin?
Yes! Musely treatments are formulated for sensitive skin. Be sure to let your Musely dermatologist know of any pre-existing conditions or concerns.
