Warped Tour Tips
I have been to warped tour many times and I think I have a pretty good idea about how to approach it, so I hope you enjoy my tips! (:
the most important thing to bring to warped is your ticket. you would be surprised by how many times I've had to turn around five minutes after leaving my house because I forgot my ticket.
I would also suggest buying your ticket in advance and having it printed before you leave for warped. it's a lot easier than getting to warped tour in hopes of buying your ticket there
(because you most likely won't be able to or get the chance to).
BRING A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE
water is super duper important at warped. warped also has water re-fill stations where you can fill up your water bottle for free.
they also sell warped tour water bottles that you can buy as a memento or incase you forgot a water bottle.
seriously. wear sunscreen. apply It before you get to the venue and make sure to re-apply it through out the day. I don't care if you think you don't burn because you're dark skinned, warped tour is an ALL DAY affair, under the boiling hot sun, and you need to wear sunscreen.
obviously it would be a good idea to bring money. you will need money for basically everything, like merch, food, drinks, meet ups, signings, so just make sure to bring as much money as you can.
last year I survived with only $40 so don't be discouraged if you can't bring anymore than that.
BRING A BAG
you're not an octopus, you only have two hands, and there are many loose things that you will need that can not be carried around all day. I suggest brining a drawstring bag, because anyone can unzip a regular backpack without you noticing and take your stuff.
you don't want to be the friend that forgets a bag because I'm always ready to strangle that one friend by the end of the day for asking 'can I put this in your bag?' every five minutes.
WHAT TO PUT IN YOUR BAG
6. Makeup ( if you're brave enough to wear any)
8. perfume / cologne
9. girly products (if it's that time of the month)
if you're going to wear makeup (which you really shouldn't, I promise you) at least get a foundation that has some sunscreen purpose and waterproof mascara because you will be sweating buckets.
keep track of all the bands that you want to see. you can download the warped tour app to see what bands will be playing at your location. once you get to warped there will be a large blow-up schedule that will tell you what bands are playing when, and on what stage.
you can make a list on paper, in the notes on your phone, or even on your hand. I myself have never made a list because I just memorize my schedule but organization is key for most people.
it should be a given, but stay away from long-sleeved shirts and long pants. also try to stay away from dark colors such as black, red, and dark blue.
try to go for shorts (the shortest you're comfortable with wearing) and tank tops. and if you're worried about stinking up your clothes then I wouldn't wear you're favorite shirt, because you will be stinking by the end of the day.
everyone at warped tour is there to just enjoy the music and the people. I have yet to have a run in with someone who was rude and anywhere near mean, so please keep this going. I would hate to see warped tour become an environment where people are uncomfortable or afraid.
follow your favorite bands on twitter or Instagram and turn on their post notifications because usually they will post about things like where their tent is located, what stage they will perform on at what times, and special deals they could have going on, i.e "first 100 people to our tent get a free shirt"
GET THERE EARLY
the gates to the warped tour venue always open at 11:00 so try to get there a couple hours early because lines are always super long. last year my favorite band was performing at 11:25 and I was still in line at 10:50 and I thought I was going to miss them, so just make sure to get there as early as you can.
the nonprofit orginiazation 'Music Saves Lives' offers a backstage wristband for the first 100 people that redeem their Music Saves Lives Blood Donation Voucher at the Music Saves Lives tent. In order to get your MSL Blood Donation Voucher you will need to donate blood or have someone donate blood on your behalf at a Music Saves Lives sponsored blood drive.
All Music Saves Lives sponsored blood drives will be posted starting April 2016. The information for signing up and donating blood can be found at MusicSavesLives.org
these are all the tips I have for you so just remember to be safe, healthy, and have loads of fun at warped tour!💖
