✨Treat Your Braces!✨
This is a before (right) and after (left) of what your teeth will look like when you have braces!
Whether you just got them, you're going to get them, or you've had them for a while, this is going to help you!
This is how to treat your braces right!
1. If you're going to get braces soon and you're worried about getting them on, try not to worry!
It doesn't hurt AT ALL when they are putting them on, and it doesn't take as long as you'd expect.
To prepare, I'd recommend you start brushing your teeth very well and using mouthwash, but you should also start taking a little bottle of mouthwash to use after lunch, because you're going to need to do that when you have them, so you might as well get used to it.
2. Do and Don't
•Break up food and chew with your back teeth
•Start to bite SOFT foods with your front teeth as soon as they stop hurting
•Brush your teeth at least 3 times a day
•Avoid sugary foods as much as you can, and drink sugary drinks through a straw.
•Bite hard foods with you're front teeth, for the whole of your treatment.
•Have caramel, gum or anything of that substance, it will wrap around your brace.
•Chew pen lids, bite your nails, or anything like that, it will break your brace.
•(Try not to)Get into any fights because it could break your brace
Breaking your brace can add about 3 months to your treatment plan. DONT DO IT
Also, try to get a mouthguard specifically for braces, to keep them safe when doing P.E or gym.
3. Try to buy some of these to clean out the wires and get all of the food out.
Brush like this on the top and bottom of your brace. Do this at least twice. Try to massage your gums with the toothbrush as well, your gums may swell up and this will help.
Swirl mouthwash around your mouth for about a minute afterward.
Stock up on wax, your braces may run against your mouth. Ask your orthodontist how to use it.
