Tostones Puertoriquenas (Puerto Rican Fried Plantains) Equivalent Of French Fries
Food & Drink
Get a couple of platanos aka plantains. Cut each end off and peel.
Cut 1" thick slices in a slanted fashion. Some people just cut straight through if you want a rounder toston.
Put them in a pan of hot oil (vegetable or canola is good) and let them get golden. Remove them and place them on a paper towel and do not turn off the stove.
Smash each one and put them back to fry until golden brown or as crispy as you like. Smash them with whatever you got. Mortar and pestle, bottom of a cup, or if you have a tostonera like my abuelita gave me use that .
Place them back on a clean paper towel, sprinkle with adobo or garlic salt and enjoy! I like to dip mine in ketchup! Whatever your eat fries with you can eat these with and of course Puerto Rican food.Make sure you serve hot. If you have leftovers you can put them in the oven later.
