Tips To Have A Better Chance Of Making A Basketball Team 🏀
Trying out for a team can be scary or nerve wracking. With these tips it can be a little less stress full
I) You want to wear something you are comfortable in and confident in as well.
II) A coach once told me to wear black not only because it will make you look slimmer and fit. Also you can wear a black jersey or cut the sleeve off a t-shirt just enough to show your arms because it makes you shoulders and arms bigger and stronger.
III) If you don't wear black, try to wear a t-shirt or jersey from a basketball camp so the coach knows you put time in and are committed.
I) Try to go to a bunch of basketball camps before tryouts, because then you aren't rusty and basketball camps are fun!
II) If you can't go to a camp, practice on your own and work on your weakest skills.
III) Try to play against people so you are ready for pressure.
IV) Practice either the nigh before, the morning, lunch or all three time before the tryout so
you are warmed up before the try out.
3. Work out
I) Try to stay in shape or get in shape before the tryout. That way you can perform better during the tryout because you aren't out of shape and tried.
II) Doing cardio like jogging or jumping rope is a great way to stay in shape.
III) Build muscle. Doing ab, arms and leg work outs will help you both on and off the court.
I) Try to remain calm before, durning and after the tryout.
II) Think of the tryout just as a practice or shooting around with friends.
III) Don't put more pressure on yourself to make the team.
VI) Try not to think a lot about the tryout the night before or that day, because you will become nervous and could lose sleep.
5. During the tryout
I) Be confident.
II) Don't be a Chatty Cathy with your friends, listen to the coach.
III) Hustle when the coach says something and try to be the first in line, to the spot or volunteer when the coach needs someone to do something, even if you don't know how to do it. It will however show the coach you are willing and listen well to direction.
VI) Try your best.
V) Don't be a show off all the time, there will be a time when the coach will let you show your move.
6. After the tryout
I) When the tryout is over, help clean up and thanks the coach for the opportunity of trying out.
II) Be patient.
III) If don't make it, it's not the end of the world and don't stop playing the sport. Try to play with a different league like a community. For more experience.
III) If you do not make the team, go talk to the coach about what you can improve on for next time.
Good luck! It's ok if you don't make it, but most importantly don't give up, especially something you love! These tips will work for not only basketball tryouts but other sport tryouts too!
You can take it to the next step!
