Tips On How To Take Care Of Your Natural Hair
Instead of shampooing, do a co-wash. Co-washing is when you wash with conditioner. If you want to use shampoo, make sure you wash with 25% shampoo and 75% water.
Use organic products. Look for products that say "organic" not "natural." It may say "natural" but there still can be chemicals in the product.
Create a regimen. You want to condition every three days and seal the moisture with a light oil. You should deep condition every week if you have time.
Never use grease in your hair. You may need moisture in your hair but grease contains petroleum which makes your hair stiff, dry, and greasy. Try natural oils like coconut, jojoba, olive, or castor.
Moisturize your ends to keep them from splitting.
Avoid heat on your hair. Blow drying and straightening your hair make your hair brittle and dry and can cause your ends to split or even your hair may fall out. If you do plan on straightening or blow drying, use a good heat protection and moisturize well.
Sleep with a satin scarf on your head or sleep on a satin pillowcase. Tossing and turning on your pillow can cause some of your hair strands to be ripped out or it can cause split ends.
Use the right comb. Always use a wide toothed comb when combing your hair. Sometimes when you use bristle brushes or thin combs, it catches you hair and will sometimes snap it off.
Keep your hair detangled. Tangle hair is bad and just a flat out mess. It can be stressful sometimes too. Sometimes, your hair can snap or break if it is bundled up in one big mess.
Try some styles! Keeping your hair in a style will help you keep your curls up to date.
