Tips For Growing And Making Long, Healthy Hair
The best tips are to keep hair And scalp healthy and moisturised. You can't do that without eating healthily. Dry scalp will slow growth and dry ends will break off. Its a myth that cutting hair makes it grow BUT trimming off really dry dead ends will prevent them from breaking off higher and higher.
So tip ONE: TRIM HAIR WHEN DRY (I do 2-3 monthly atleast)
Drink lots of water to stay hydrated! We're made up of 80% water - how can we produce luscious locks without it? :)
USE A HAIR MASK - I use olive oil but have used COCONUT AND CASTOR OIL in the past. Make sure its pure unrefined or organic. Apply the castor to the roots and coconut to the lengths and ends. If using olive oil apply from root to tip.
Once the oil (castor, olive or coconut) is applied massage scalp with head upside down for 5 minutes - this improves blood flow to the roots and follicles, enhancing growth! Leave in a shower cap for as long as possible. I leave 4-6 hours or overnight but any duration is better than none.. When rinsing shampoo, focusing on roots (perhaps x2 with castor)
Then condition as normal before getting out.
dry your hair with cotton (I use an old t shirt and hang back in the bathroom for the next time - a long sleeved top is great as you can tie it up much like a turban :D). Cotton eliminates frizz and prevent breakage from the harsh texture of a towel! Some say sleep on a silk pillow but I'm yet to try this!
TAKE MULTI VITAMINS. I use borocca boosts as they give me energy! Or standard multivitamins will do.
Use ARGAN OIL on the mid lengths and ends after washing. Apply to towel dried - using your cotton shirt! hair. I usually put about a coin sized amount (1p shorter shoulder length hair/ 2p long boob-length hair)
I'm not sure how this would work on really short hair as you don't want to apply any to the root - perhaps rub finger tips into oil and target ends only.
It's great as once the hair dries it doesn't transfer up to the roots making your hair greasy more quickly like other oils and smoothing hair products seem to do - A GOD SEND! You guys mussssssst try :)
ALWAYS USE A GOOD CONDITIONER. That is all. Literally don't be so insane to stick with these two-in-ones or worse still none at all 😳
I love aussie miracle moisture
I love tresemme split mend (the mask is good too)
I love aussie luscious long
But feel free to try a few - Pantene Aqua light is good for making so soft but not adding weight or making your hair greasy - great for those prone to greasy hair!
don't comb wet hair :) just comb through with fingers
Also : whilst in the shower - whilst the conditioner is on use your fingers as a comb to neaten your hair making it easier when you get out. Just roughly find your parting and comb the hair downwards. It works trust me!
if your hair is long enough sleep with your hair in a PLAIT. Just a loose side one. This works in two ways:
Stops hair getting tangled so less vicious brushing in the mornings
Hair doesn't scrub around in the pillow in the night drying out the ends and causing frizz and breakage!
DONT HEAT STYLE. You don't need to straighten your hair. View YouTube videos for no heat ideas. my favourite is a no heat curl tutorial and it is amazing and so easy!!!
Additionally apply big rollers to smooth out and straighten hair instead of blow drying or straightening.
If you succumb to the strong powers urging you to heat style make sure you use a good heat protect spray (or balm)

Try French plaiting damp hair, sleep on it over night... Taken out then hair spray and scrunch if you like or if your hair doesn't hold curls very well :)
