  • Choosing a song/monologue : Choose the right songs and/or monologue
•Choose a song based on your musical abilities (how high/low is your vocal range? Are you better with uptempo songs or ballads?)
•Don't song the same song as everyone else. Sing something different that sets you apart, but in the end song what suits you best. If what suits you best is what everyone else sings, you're ok!
•chose something that showcases your singing voice- not your talking voice or character voices
•Same goes for monologues except apply tips to acting ability (are you the good/bad guy? Comedic or dramatic?)

  • Singing:
    •"Just Do it!"
•Warm up before and make sure your singing in toon
    •Chose the right song
    •Relax and be confident
•If there is an accompanist, be very respectful towards him
•Respect the directors/producers/people you sing I front of

  • Dancing:
    •Stretch/warm up before dancing
•wear appropriate clothing/footwear (character shoes or jazz shoes and consider leotards, leggings, sweatpants, and any clothing that you can move in)
•best quiet when learning the dance
    •respect is key!
•don't watch the other dancers. focus on yourself!
•if you don't get it, ask a question
•have energy and expression (smile if its a happy dance)
    • no matter how good/bad your doing, be confident and own the stage
•be prepared to be broken down into smaller groups

  • Acting:
•Get into your character and scene
    • if doing a cold read, read the script whenever you get the opportunity
    •have fun
    •listen to director/producer/judge instructions
•if you have a monologue have it prepared and practice it
    •pay attention the entire audition

  • Post audition:
•Be proud of what you did! Auditioning is not easy!
    •wait for a callback/cast list
    •Don't worry! Be happy :)

  • Other:
•Bring water to your audition #thethirstisreal
•be yourself and don't change who you are (don't put on heavy makeup or fancy clothing)
•be familiar with the show you are auditioning for

•don't be overly confident and underly confident. You never know what will happen
