The Beginner's Guide to Feng Shui ...

  • Feng Shui is "a system of laws considered to govern spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to the flow of energy." It basically consists of moving around your furniture in order to make yourself happier and more productive. While some people don't believe in it, others think that it's a useful way to live a life you love. Here's the beginner's guide to feng shui:

  • .... Don't let your bed face directly toward the door, because your feet shouldn't be pointed toward the exit. However, your bed should give you a good view of your door (which works best if it's diagonally opposite to it), so that you can see who enters and leaves it. You also need to have your head against something stable, like a wall. Of course, having a headboard can never hurt.

  • .... When sitting at your desk, you should never have your back to the door. Just like when you're sitting in bed, you should be able to have a clear view of the rest of the room and the door. The best position for a desk is diagonally opposite the door, just like your bed, but it should never be placed against a wall. It should be in the center of a room.

  • .... It shouldn't surprise you that clutter can give you bad energy. When you tidy up your house, it'll leave free space, which will make your mind feel like it's free as well. You should also get rid of items you own that give you bad memories, like photographs and gifts from your old boyfriends.

  • .... If you want to have a positive attitude, then the colors and decorations in your bedroom should reflect that. You can't have any harsh colors, like black on the walls. You need to paint the room a peaceful, warm color and stay away from cool colors. You should also hang up paintings that mean something special to you, so that you can see them from your bed.

  • .... Make sure that every solitary seat in your living room has a table next to it. If you place any sort of decorations on them, make sure that they inspire hope and happiness. However, you don't want to fill the house with too many decorations. You also don't want any sharp corners or plants with sharp leaves on them

  • .... Just like the other rooms in your house, it's incredibly important that your bathroom is free of clutter. You should paint the room blue or green, so that it feels relaxing. You should also keep the toilet lid down and the drains closed when they're not being used.

  • .... Mirrors are actually frowned upon when it comes to feng shui. You don't want them facing you when you go to bed at night, so if you must have one in your room, make sure to hang it on the inside of your closet. That way, you can keep it out of sight when you're not using it.
