"Sweetbitter" Author Stephanie Danler Swears By This Anxiety-Calming Supplement

  • If you took any form of public transit or went to a beach last summer, you've seen Sweetbitter's now-iconic cover. This ubiquitous book was practically the harbinger of millennial pink. While I couldn't quite sympathize with its wash of whiteness and bathroom coke, the psychology-obsessed part of me wanted to investigate author Stephanie Danler's downtime routines. How did she get through the sleepless, stressful launch of a blockbuster book and escape with her sanity & clear skin intact?

  • Apparently, the secret to Danler's calm is CBD – short for cannabidiol. It sounds like something you'd confiscate from your kids, but CBD is a non-psychoactive hemp derivative with powerful benefits for all aspects of your health. Danler professed her love of CBD to Into the Gloss: "I also have CBD pills, and they’re heaven for in-flight anxiety." In addition to being great for remedying anxiety, CBD has been heralded as a miracle treatment for period cramps, sleep disorders, and improving overall mood.

  • The benefits, however, go much deeper. CBD helps to support the endocannabinoid system in the body and ensure that your immune, nervous and digestive systems are in balance, meaning you’ll feel an overall sense of well-being.  Some scientists and studies demonstrate the potential of CBD as a treatment for conditions including chronic pain, arthritis, diabetes, Crohn’s disease, acne, insomnia, PTSD, MS, depression, etc and other neurological disorders. Recent research is investigating the potential anti-tumor and anti-cancer properties of CBD. CBD comes in many different forms, but one of my favorites is Hempsvision, because it’s so easy to take. Each day before breakfast, I put around 15 drops under the tongue and hold it for 3 seconds. It’s a simple way to feel my best.
