Smart Way To Food Shop
This tip is aimed to help prevent half your food shopping ending up in the bin...
Fruit lasts longer in the fridge than on a counter in bowls (apart from bananas and pineapples which should be kept in cupboards)
If your veg comes in bag eg. Carrots and peppers - keep it bagged you'll keep more air away from the product and it'll stay fresher longer , even after you've opened the bag keep remains in there and simply fold over the plastic
Exception to this rule- lettuce lengthens it's life if you store in a bowl of water in the fridge as soon as you get home then top up water ever couple of days
Freeze your milk - yes if you freeze your milk as soon as possible it can last in freezer for up to 6weeks (write defrost date on it to keep an eye on its freshness )
You can also freeze potatoes - but not raw ones or they'll go black but if u boil them even for 5minutes (peeled or unpeeled ) they are fine to pop into the freezer an can be cooked from frozen .
Portion size- Rice -1/4 a mug Peas-3heaped tablespoons Spaghetti - make a 'o' with you index finger and thumb sliding finger to base of thumb and fill hole with dry spaghetti .
Go food shopping an you'll see lots of offers only thing you don't really need them /originally wanted them ,if your tempted try stuck to cupboard foods only the best before date is longer so it's less likely ending up in bin.
And lastly never go shopping on a empty stomach you never buy what u wanted and always end up with regret buys, happy shopping 😃
