Skincare Product Reviews!
Skin & Body
These are my personal opinions on products that I have purchased and used. If you have sensitive and/or dry skin, the products that have worked for me may work for you as well
Avene Thermal Spring Water: 👎🏻
I was really excited to try this product. This product is $18, and claims to help irritated and/or reddened skin (and my skin is very red and rosacea prone), so I was hoping this would help reduce my redness. But it just turned out to be a disappointment.
Pros: It has a really great mister. This mist that comes out is very fine and even. It would be great to spray over makeup if makeup has gotten cakey or dry looking.
Cons: it didn't live up to its claims. I feel like I spent $23 on a can of regular water.
Cetaphil Cream Lotion for Dry/Sensitive Skin: 👍🏻
I've gone winters where the skin on my forehead would rub off like snow. Gross! This has helped tremendously.
Pros: This winter was the first winter in a long time where I didn't have dry patches. My skin actually felt normal.
Cons: If you have combination skin, this will make the lesser dry parts of your skin a bit oily. I recommend using this with a less moisturizing lotion if only certain parts of your face get dry.
Olay Fresh Effects Clear Skin Spot Zinger: 👍🏻
I've had problems with blemishes around my mouth for a long time. I bought this hoping I could finally get rid of them. So far it has worked.
Pros: very easy to use. Even though it warns that using it multiple times in a day can cause dry patches, I haven't had this problem. Shrinks blemishes overnight.
Cons: If a blemish does grow into a big pimple, this doesn't work. I had a big pimple grow on my chin, and this did little to get rid of it while it was still inflamed.
Garnier Makeup Removing Cleansing Lotion: 👍🏻
Since my skin is so sensitive, I decided to try out a lotion cleanser, and I bought this because it's specifically for makeup.
Pros: it does a better job at removing my makeup without irritating my skin than anything else I have used (even my eyemakeup).
Cons: it still doesn't remove ALL of it by itself. The directions say you can either rinse it off with water or use a cotton round. The cotton round works better, but leaves my skin feeling raw. Also, you're supposed to use this on dry skin, so it is hard to use in the shower (where I prefer to use it).
I'll just list these together since they both worked out about the same.
Pros: Cost effective. Wipes might be good for someone with normal skin
Cons: The wipes are too rough for me. They are softer than the horrible equate ones, but my skin is on the sensitive side, and these feel rough to my skin. Plus, my face didn't feel all that clean after using them. The eye makeup remover is horrible. It says oil-free, but feels super oily on the skin, and sucked at removing my eye makeup. I don't use waterproof makeup, and yet my eye makeup would still be there days later!
