New Scam In The Mail! Do Not Deposit A Check From Gardson Research. Consumers Beware!
If you receive a letter from Gardson Research saying you were hired as a "mystery shopper" along with a large check do not deposit the check! I did some research on this company and it appears to be a scam. They want you to deposit the check and wire most of money back to them. The check is bad.
It's an out of state which usually takes 3 business days to clear. This letter tells you to 1st call this individual to activate and authorize the check and then states that you have 2 days to wire the funds to them which means the check won't be cleared yet. You will be stuck owing your bank.
As you can see this check looks real. I've worked in banking for 12 years and it almost fooled me. I looked the company up online and the only thing I found about them were reports on ripoffreport.com. The reports were only added within the last 2 weeks so it appears to be a new scam.
There are even water marks on the check. This company might also get your bank account information if the check gets sent back to them once it bounces. They claim the balance left after you wire them and complete these assignments is your payment for submitting your review. My case was $350
I believe they got my information because I recently lost my job due to a company lay off and my resume is posted on several job search sites. They know I'm seeking employment and I would be a good target.
If you receive this please report it on ripoffreport.com. Please don't become a victim of this scam. The 2nd assignment in the letter is to take $100 from that check & shop at a major store (old navy, target, & more) rate their service & keep the goods. Beware of too good to be true offers.
