Kid-Friendly Manicure Secrets Via Top Manicurist Patricia Yankee!
Soak your child's nails in a basin of warm water, a cap full of baby shampoo and a few drops of baby oil. This cleans your child's nails and softens her cuticles so that you can easily push them back.
Use a cotton swab to gently push back cuticles. Never cut a child's cuticles because they get easily infected.
Skip the base coat. Most kids won't sit long enough for three coats and kid-friendly colors (light colors and colors free of harsh chemicals) won't stain their nails.
Leave a slight polish-free border around the cuticle and sides. This keeps the polish centered and it's less likely to chip.
Use a hair dryer on the cool setting to speed up drying time.
