  • Know what your topic is going to be about. Then find at least three main ideas to talk about.
Know what your topic is going to be about. Then find at least three main ideas to talk about.
  • Make sure those three things you're writing about will last at least a paragraph. Of course you must have at least five sentences per paragraph.

  • Write this on a computer program. This will make you revising your essay and improving. It easier than writing it by hand then typing it.

  • Indent paragraphs.

  • Know your right/write, their/there/they're, your/you're, etc. It's very important because they all mean very different things. Right is correct. Write is to mark in a surface. Their is someone owning an object. There is a location. They're is "they are".

  • Make sure you include larger, more complicated words that will make your essay sophisticated. Look up synonyms for words that seem like they're over said or seem to simple. Add some flare to your essay!

  • Do not use words like don't, it's, doesn't. Seperate them to do not, it is, does not because it a slang way of talking.

  • Don't start your sentences with and, but, etc. It is not formal, whatsoever

  • Avoid exclamation points or question marks. Essays are formal pieces of writings.

  • If you're wanting to add numbers in the writing, be sure they're spelled out. If they're over a thousand, you can use numbers.

  • In the upper left hand corner of only your first page of the essay, you write:
    Your name
Class, (Class hour (if you're in high school))
    Professor's name
    Date it is due

  • Double space everything. Your name, date, class, class hour, and teacher are included in that.

  • Add a header in the right hand corner. The header must have your last name and the number of the page. There should be a header option in the program you're writing your essay in.

  • The title of your essay must be creative as well. And it mustn't have a bigger font than everything else. 12 pt and Times New Roman is what you need. And it should be in the middle of the essay
