How To Make Moms Homemade Apple Pie

  • Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2/3 cup crisco
1 teaspoon salt 
4-6 tablespoons water (depends how flaky you like your crust)
4-8 apples depending on size
3 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons nutmeg
3 tablespoons cinnamon 
3-5 tablespoons sugar (depends how sweet you want your pie)
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
    Ingredients:
    2 cups flour
    2/3 cup crisco
    1 teaspoon salt
    4-6 tablespoons water (depends how flaky you like your crust)
    4-8 apples depending on size
    3 tablespoons butter
    2 teaspoons nutmeg
    3 tablespoons cinnamon
    3-5 tablespoons sugar (depends how sweet you want your pie)
    1 egg
    1/3 cup milk
  • In a medium sized bowl put your flour, crisco, salt and water & mix together until everything is incorporated. At this point you could use your hands to knead dough together to form a ball (use flour on your hands so dough doesn't stick to you). Once that is complete, separate your dough in half. On a piece of wax paper roll out you 1st half of dough until it fits your pie plate (cut off remaining dough around pie plate with a knife).

    Next, peel skin off your apples and slice apples in desired size into your pie plate.

  • Over your apples put the butter in little chunks throughout you pie. Next, sprinkle the nutmeg, cinnamon & sugar evenly throughout your pie.

    On wax paper, roll out your remaining dough to top your pie. Once you place your top dough on pie use a knife to cut off extra dough & use a fork to push your top & bottom dough together.

    Then, whisk together the egg & milk together. Using a pastry brush, brush it over your pie. Now sprinkle pie lightly with sugar. This will give your pie a caramelized, nice color while baking.

    Slice breathing holes on top & bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 min.
