How To Make A Backless Bra Out Of An Old Standard Bra
You will need: An ordinary, well-fitting bra Scissors Straight pins Needle and thread (coordinating or color of your choice)
Lay the bra out flat with the straps to the sides.
You're going to want to cut the strap away right where it meets the band. If you cut it any higher, the straps may not be long enough.
This is a closer look at where to cut the strap.
Now that you have the strap detached, you are going to cut away the wings or bands. (In this illustration, the lacy part)
Note how the wing is being cut away as close to the cup as possible.
Do the same thing on the other side.
Now you want to attach the free end of the strap to the under-cup of the same side of the bra. Just with straight pins. You'll want to try it on carefully (mind those pins!) to be sure that this is the place where you want to secure the strap.
And on the other side as well.
Adjust the bra as you would wear it with your backless dress.
Note that the strap is low on the underwire. This is for added support. It won't hug your body as well if you attach the strap to the top of the underwire.
Now that you have tried it on, if you love the way it fits, see it on.
Now you don't have to avoid those cute backless tops or shell out lots of money for a fancy bra!
And you'll look amazing!
