How To Get Clear Skin

Drink water. Your skin is your biggest organ, and can tell you a lot about what’s going on inside your body. If you aren’t hydrating your body, your skin will show it- it will feel dry, maybe even flakey. Kick regular water up a notch by adding lemon! Lemons contain tons of antioxidants which will not only help fight blemishes, but wrinkles too!
Eat skin-healthy foods. Nourish your skin and it will love you! Avocado, almonds, broccoli, salmon, and garlic are just a few that you should add into your diet. What should you avoid? Avoid fried foods and sugary foods and drinks; if you notice that you are sensitive to dairy products, you may want to cut out milk and cheese as well.
Take your makeup off before bed. After dancing all night we know all you want to do is kick off those heels and crash, but it’s very, very important to take off all your makeup and properly cleanse your skin. We recommend sensitive skin makeup-removing wipes to take off the makeup, including waterproof mascara (be extra gentle around your eyes). Use a cotton q-tip and some extra-virgin coconut oil to remove any stubborn eye makeup. After you can actually see your skin, wash your face with a cleanser of your choice.
Gentle cleanser. If you have battled breakouts in the past it can be tempting to go crazy with the anti-acne cleansers, but really, a lot of these can do more harm than good. Not only are the acne-fighting ingredients extremely harsh on the skin, but also there are a lot of harmful chemicals that may further aggravate your condition. Go for brands that keep their formulas fairly simple and if they advertise “paraben-free” or “sulfate-free”, that’s a good sign that they care about using natural ingredients.
Sweat. Sweating is one of the best ways to get rid of toxins in your body which, along with dirt and oils, is what causes breakouts. Give your pores the chance to open up and unclog. Exercise is great, but hit a sauna or steam room next time you’re at the gym. Make sure to shower and cleanse your face afterward.
Wash your pillowcase. Your pillowcase is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to blemishes. When you sleep, oil from your skin and hair gets onto the fabric and becomes prime breeding ground for pore-clogging bacteria. Wash your pillowcase at least once a week to make sure you’re really getting the most out of your beauty sleep!
Don’t scrub! Take a tip out of Cleopatra’s beauty book and use clay masks for exfoliation and deep pore cleansing. Bentonite clay is probably the most effective and it’s also extremely affordable. Mix the clay with water or apple cider vinegar which has naturally acne-fighting properties, until it is a smooth paste. Smear it all over your face, leave it on for 10-20 minutes until it’s totally dry (your face will feel very tight), and wash it off with warm water. Do this at least once a week and you’ll be amazed at how refined your pores will look and how glowing your complexion will be.
Last minute pimple panic? Clay mask and tea tree oil to the rescue! If you notice a pimple beginning to form, apply clay mask mixed with apple cider vinegar directly on the blemish and leave it on all night. It should help to dry it up or at least greatly reduce the size by morning. For day time, dab on some tea tree oil and let it dry, then follow with moisturizer and makeup. Do this day and night until the pimple goes away, usually in a few days.
