  • First off:
You are going to want to section off an area of hair in the middle near the top of your/her hair. It doesn't have to be lots but enough to start a braid.
Also I will be using an over hand braid and colorful numbers to indicate where each hair section should be!

  • Overhand Braid:

An overhand braid is just reversing the regular braid! But unlike a regular braid where you usually take the middle section and put it underneath the left section.. Your actually going to put the middle section OVER the left section.
You can practice this a couple times before you actually start the Dutch braid. It might be easier if everyone understands what's going on. Just suggestion! Hope this was helpful!

Okay back to the super cool braid..

  • OK! Now we have 1,3,2!! Make sure after you cross them over that you pull them nice and tight. Also, sorry if these pictures are bad.. I took them at night, with my phone, while braiding hair.. Sorry!!

  • Okay!! This part is super key to this entire braid!
Since we just braided from the middle over, we are going to stay on that same side with the 3rd section of hair, and we're going to section off a piece of hair from the crown of her hair and pull it into the 3rd section!!

  • Same thing on the other side!
Take a piece from around the front over her hair and pull it back into section (#1)
And make sure you pull it pretty tight. Just so no loose hairs get mixed up in your braid!

Make see you add the hair from the front into section (#1) like you've been doing!

the braid will stand out more if it's tighter.

  • OK! This part is super duper easy!
After you pulled it tight you probably noticed all the hair still underneath!
Here is what we are going to do with that!
Divide the hair underneath into 3 sections as well! And all you are going to do is add them to the hair above it!

  • OK! After you added your underneath sections to the top sections, and pulled it nice and tight this is what you are going to do... I explained the overhand braid earlier! So All your going to do from here on down is an overhand braid!

  • I'm just going to explain what I mean on this page.
Since you have 3 sections of hair above it and three sections below it all you do is add it to the parallel section of hair! So let's say our sections are.. "1,2,3" on the top half. The bottom half will also be "1,2,3" and your just going to match them up. Take the underneath (#1) and add it to the (#1) above it! And same thing with section (#2 and #3)
    Simple, right?
    Let's continue!

  • Make sure to accessorize! You can put flowers and weave them into certain strands, you can also tie bows or ribbons into it as well :)
I hope you've enjoyed my full tutorial and results! Sorry if my finished braid turned out a tad wonky.. It's hard to take pictures and braid at the same time haha!
