How To Create Crockpot Recipes In Advance
Food & Drink
The world of the crockpot is an amazing one because it can be a huge time-saver. Some of us moms are so busy, we’re lucky if we can get a pizza in the oven before everyone starts piling through the front door demanding something to eat while hovering around the kitchen area. Luckily, crockpot recipes can be just as simple as popping a pizza in the oven, with a little in-advance preparation of course!
Check out our simple tips below!
1. Find a few simple recipes.
Do your research and find simple recipes that require few ingredients. We like to choose recipes that are easy to prepare ahead of time and can be frozen for dinner time. Of course, choose crockpot recipes that your family will love such as chicken chili or a roast with veggies.
2. Plan your recipes for a week.
In step one, we asked you to find a few simple recipes because it’s best to plan in advance. When preparing your recipes in advance, you can mark the days you’re planning to make your new dinner ideas without having to think about what to make for dinner on any given weeknight.
3. Shop for ingredients.
Try to choose recipes that are different but still use some of the same ingredients so you’re not buying two or three of everything in the supermarket. The process should be simple and affordable, but without sacrificing variety in your diet and meals.
4. Choose an afternoon for advance preparation.
Clear two or three hours to prep your meals in advance. Cut up vegetables and divide as needed for recipes by putting them in Ziploc bags and don’t forget to mark them by recipe name and date. Pre-measure all ingredients and store them in the freezer until ready. Unless of course there are seasoning and spices, or broth, you can just add those when you are ready to make your meal.
5. Dump, cook, and serve.
Since all of your ingredients are pre-measured, all you literally need to do is dump them in the crockpot with spices and liquids in the morning. If you’re planning to leave your recipe all day, then we suggest cooking everything on low to avoid burning your food. You’ll be ready to please your family with home cooked meal aromas as they barrel through the door at the end of the day. Nothing beats the smell of crockpot recipes that has been simmering all day!
