The price tag on beauty can be pretty ugly. From expensive spa treatments to pricy products, your wallet is taking a hit all in the name of looking good. But there’s a way to stop spending and still achieve a healthy glow, bright smile, thick hair and soft skin.
Wake up tired eyes:- Leave the costly concealer in the beauty drawer. When dark circles are evidence of a social calendar packed with BBQs and late nights, thinly slice a potato and apply the slices under your eyes for 10 minutes. Potato juice contains the enzyme catecholase, which is used in cosmetics as a skin lightener. You could also try witch hazel to reduce puffiness. Keep a small amount in the refrigerator and soak two cotton pads in it. Apply one pad to each closed lid for five minutes.
Ease a sunburn:- Too much outdoor summer fun can translate to a nasty burn. Easy to grow in your own home, aloe is exceptionally beneficial for treating sunburned or irritated skin. Just break off a stalk and squeeze the gooey nectar onto damaged skin for soothing relief. If a green thumb isn’t your strong suit, instead grab some sour cream or Greek yogurt. Rubbing this chilly cream onto the burn not only soothes your sunburned skin but it helps to brighten the skin.
Get luxurious locks:- When your hair needs a boost, go nuts with coconut oil. This do-it-all is rich in fatty acids, proteins, zinc, vitamin B and C, potassium and iron. Available at most supermarkets, simply apply it on your hair whenever your locks seemed stressed (read: that day you spent frolicking on the beach ring a bell?). Liquefy a tablespoon or two of the oil in the microwave for 20 seconds. After it has cooled, work the miracle oil into your hair, massaging it into your scalp and pulling it through to the ends.
Wrap a warm towel fresh from the drier around your head, and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse, wash and condition.
Bye bye dry skin:- Forgo the expensive spa treatments and uncover your glow with a DIY body scrub. Mix three parts brown or white sugar, one part olive oil and 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Rub in circles onto dry skin before you hit the shower and all that lackluster skin baked by the sun doesn’t stand a chance. Rinse off in warm water and pat dry.
