HOW TO PREVENT & REDUCE THE APPEARANCE OF OPEN PORES

Large pores make the appearance of blemishes even bigger & can pop up any time. They are caused by over-secretion of oil by the oil glands. Thankfully, a number of medical treatments can help reduce the size of pores, thus making your skin appear firm & healthy.
It is also important to follow a certain skincare regime so as to keep this problem at bay. If larger pores & unsightly blemishes are bothering you, here are some good ways to shrink them & reduce their appearance:
WASH | Pores enlarge when they become clogged with dirt, oil, or bacteria, causing them to become inflamed. Washing your face regularly but not too often- once in the morning, once at night will help keep your pores looking smaller & feeling better.
ICE CUBES | Place the ice cubes gently along your pores for 15 to 30 seconds. This will have a tightening effect on your skin.
OATMEAL | Mix 1 tablespoon of oatmeal with 2 tablespoon of yogurt & place it in the refrigerator for a few hours. Then apply this paste to your skin for 30 minutes & wash off with lukewarm water. You can also make a paste of ground oatmeal, lemon juice, gram flower & rose water.
BAKING SODA | Baking soda may help minimize the appearance of pores while fightingacne at the same time. If you have very sensitive skin use it with caution, as it may irritate your skin. Make a paste of baking soda with water & apply on face. Wash after 5 minutes with gentle circular movements.
TOMATO | Tomatoes can be used in a number of ways to reduceoil content, sizes of pores & their appearance. Add the juice of a tomato to sandalwood or calamine powder & apply on the face. Alternately, dip cotton in tomato juice & apply. Leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing it off.
CITRUS | Lemon & pineapple juice contain natural enzymes that tighten & firm the face while also purifying & brightening the skin. Lemon particularly has the ability to cleanse & shrink the appearance of pores. Rub a slice of pineapple or lemon on your skin & wash it off after 15 mins.
YOGURT | Plain yogurt contains lacticacid & probiotics, which when applied to the skin, help keep the badbacteria that cause acne in check, thereby reducing the appearance of pore size. Apply a thinlayer of plain yogurt over face & let stand for 5-10 min. Longer than 10 can irritate the skin.
