  • Oftentimes the winter months bring dry, brittle, coarse hair and for most of us, the solution is to chop our locks! Well, if this is the case for you, or you just want to grow your hair out quickly, here are some suggestions:

    1. Biotin-
    Biotin is a hair, skin, and nail vitamin full of vitaminB and vitaminH. Biotin supplements the skin, nails, nerves, metabolism, digestive track, hair, and cells so it provides the extra nutrients needed to grow your hair longer quickly. Not to mention that your overall skin and nails will benefit from this vitamin as well.

  • 2. Get Hot Oil Treatments-
    Your scalp often becomes dry and flaky during the wintertime, and since this is where your hair grows from massaging warm essential oils into it really will stimulate the hair growth as well as make your hair feel thicker and softer. You can purchase these treatments at your local drugstore or use oils such as coconut.

  • 3. When it comes to heat, less is best-
    I know it's tempting to hop out of the shower, dry your hair, and then curl/straighten it accordingly, but you are essentially frying your hair by doing this! Most anyone will tell you, after going a month without heat their hair experienced exponential growth! So, for now, try to either skip the curling iron or hair dryer in your hair care routine if you want serious results. (There are always alternative methods to curling and straightening your hair)

  • 4. Do not comb/brush your hair immediately out of the shower-
    Your hair is most fragile when wet. It is more prone to break and also more prone to frizz up. My advice to you? Wait about 10-15min and then proceed to gently comb through your hair starting at the bottom and working your way up to the top.

  • 5. Try to go 2-3days between hair washes-
    Yes, to some this may sound gross or impossible, but I can assure you from personal experience that this worked best for me. Your scalp produces natural oils that are extremely healthy for your hair, but what happens when you wash your hair daily is that those essential oils are stripped from your scalp with harsh chemicals. Your scalp realizes this and thus produces even more oils to protect your hair. And soon you're stuck in this endless cycle of oily-dry hair. Sounds awful right? So how do you break this chain? Start by going a day between washes.
