Get Perfect Pastel Hair. Easy Upkeep

  • Lots of people like pastel hair including myself when I tried to make my hair a pastel colour it always came out too bright and by the time you get it the colour you want, its on the verge of washing out. Then you end up having to redye it and going through millions of pounds/dollars worth of hair dye. Here's a few things you can do to get that perfect pastel colour straight away and go through less hair dye.

  • Start by picking a colour it can be super bright if you want. Then get a white in colour conditioner (not coloured!)
Now this is the easy part if you have ever made a cake before and coloured the icing you should find this very easy. Get the conditioner and put it in a tub (I personally use a tub the size of the plastic tub you get in bleach hair dyes that you use to mix the powder up) you then fill it a quarter of the way up with conditioner and then add the colour until you get the desired colour you want. I always add a little more as you are mixing it with conditioner.

  • Now what the conditioner does is it waters it down so you get the pastel colour straight away this means you can pick brighter dyes and still get the colour you want and have more range to choose from with cheaper prices. It also means you don't use as much dye so you use half as much which saves money also. The conditioner causes less damage and build up in your hair to keep the healthy shine and increase growth. Like I said when mixing I always add a little more because the colour you see fades a little while washing so you want to add a little more to just make sure it doesn't go too light

  • Add the mix to your hair a cover all over like you would with a normal hair dye. Leave the conditioner dye on for an hour to get maximum results and then rinse you don't have to put conditioner on after as the dye had conditioner in but if you want to you can. For pastel hair you need to get your hair as white as possible otherwise the pastel colour will be less visible and can be slightly off colour when put on hair. If you have dyed your hair before you will know exactly what I mean haha. Here is also a few tips for better upkeep of white blonde hair and pastel hair...

  • 1. Use a silver shampoo when dying white blonde hair and purple as this neutralises any brass yellow or orange coming through. (They do sell one in boots that has a silver label and purple in colour which is great).
    2. If you are colouring your hair avoid head and shoulders shampoo as it is a colour stripping shampoo try and buy a colour protecting shampoo and conditioner.
    3. Avoid washing your hair too much so maybe once every other day instead of everyday.
