Easy DIY Origami Flower For Valentine's Day 💟💐
You can make one or even a bouquet of origami flowers for your sweet heart. It's easy and thoughtful. Plus, they'll never go bad.
Start with regular paper, scissors, and maybe some markers to make a colored flower. You could also use colored paper instead.
Fold the paper the make a square and then cut off the extra strip. You'll need both pieces so don't throw it out.
If you want to color them, the small strip will be the stem and the square will be the flower.
Fold diagonally to create a triangle. Then unfold so it is back to a square.
Fold the other way to make a triangle like this and then unfold again.
When you unfold it you will have an X made from the creases where you folded it
Grasp the middle and pull them together pinched between your fingers
Use your other hand to press the top down flat towards your fingers so that the paper folds inwards like this in an hour glass shape
Push it down all the way so it lies flat and you have a triangle
Pick up the first layer at the corner and fold it in a triangle towards the top center part of the triangle. Do it again with the other corner so it ends up looking like this.
Flip it over to the other side you didn't fold yet
Fold up the corners on this side too so you end up with a diamond
Pick up the corner of the top layer and fold it completely flat against the other side. Flip it over and repeat. Basically you're pulling it apart so that the part that was on the inside of the fold is now on the outside of the fold. Like if you opened a greeting card and laid it down flat.
You will end up with a diamond shape again
Pick up the first layer at the corner and you will notice an opening like this
Use that opening to tuck one corner into the other like this. Flip it over and repeat to the other side.
You will notice opening at the bottom where you just connected the two flaps. Put one finger in each side and use them to gently pull it apart slightly to expand the fullness of the flower.
At the top, there will now be two layers at each point. Carefully pull the first layer halfway back away from the middle to form a petal. Repeat on all four corners.
Now you have your flower. Great job.
Now roll the small paper inward starting at one corner. Try to keep it tight.
You can use scotch tape to secure it.
Find the small hole at the bottom of the flower and insert the stem.
Now you're ready to go with a unique and thoughtful DIY flower.
