  • Dry skin is the culprit and can be easily cured with some good home remedies. A lot of factors are playing an important role in the formation of cracked heels. They can range from the pressure of standing all day, so heel extends out overweight, causing cracking of the skin.

  • Moisturizers
    Moisturizers for cracked heels can be found in any store or pharmacy. Any moisturizer will work, but those that are specially formulated for severe dry skin work best. In extreme cases, ask a dermatologist who will provide a harder moisturizer. For best results, soak your feet for 15 minutes in a foot bath to moisturize the skin, and then dry your feet thoroughly and apply a moisturizer.

  • Hot water and pumice
    Believe it or not, the best remedy is the hot water. The hot water helps to soften hard skin on the heels and makes the removal of the skin much easier with pumice. If you don’t have a pumice stone, sandpaper work just as well. Try using a small block of wood, of a size that fits in the palm of your hand, then fine sandpaper wrapped around grain. This creates a tool that is ideal for removing dead skin cells from heel fissure.

  • Butter
    Apply a generous layer of lard or butter, like moisturizer or lotion. Wear thick socks to prevent the butter from escaping. Let it stand overnight and continue to do this every night until your heels look better. The fat helps cracked heels to remain dry and moistened. If you don’t have butter, you can use hydrogenated vegetable oil which doesn’t dry the area. Follow the same procedures as for the butter and moisturizers.

  • Ripe banana
    Some people use a ripe banana for heel cracks. Break the ripe banana and apply it on the heel. Leave it for about 15 minutes, then clean the area. Repeat if necessary. If you’re brave enough, you can leave it longer or even overnight. Of course you should use a protective sock on the foot.

  • Foamy water
    Take the habit of soaking your feet every night for 15-20 minutes in warm soapy water and dry them completely. Apply one of the above solutions to maintain a smooth and free of cracks heels.
