Delicious Gluten Free Alfredo Sauce!!!!!!!
Food & Drink
For those of us who are either Celiac or Gluten-intolerant, this is perfect because trying to find gluten free alfredo sauce in the stores is almost impossible. Plus it's stupid expensive! This recipe is made from items you already have, and is so simple, you will remember this recipe and not even think about store bought!
2-3 TABLESPOONS OF BUTTER
PARMESAN CHEESE (I prefer grated, but you can use shredded, just takes a bit longer to incorporate )
OTHER WHITE CHEESES
STOVE TOP (NATURALLY!)
after pulling out all needed ingredients and hardware, make sure that everything is open and ready as needed. This recipe can be done in under 5 minutes and you have to be on top of it at all times, because too much corn starch can make it too thick. IF YOU ARE MAKING A BIG BATCH, MAKE SURE TO ACCOMMODATE TO THE FACT THAT A LITTLE CORN STARCH WILL DO YOU!!!
melt butter in saucepan, on medium heat
Add a tablespoon at a time of the corn starch to the melted butter.
You are basically going to be making a rue, which is the base to most thick sauces and gravy's.
Add a little at a time until the rue makes almost like butter colored balls in the pan
Right after the corn starch- butter balls come together, quickly add milk, constantly whisking to make sure the balls are broken down and blended well.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO ADD A LITTLE MILK AT A TIME AT THIS POINT! TOO LITTLE, AND IT'S TOO THICK, TOO MUCH AND YOU NEED MORE CORN STARCH!
Add milk until it is well blended and starting to boil a bit (you may need to turn up the heat a bit)
After you get the sauce to the right consistency and the thickness you want, add in the parmesan cheese. Keep adding to the strength you prefer and whisk to make sure it is melted and incorporated.
You want to make sure it is smooth, and no clumps of cheese or corn starch.
At this stage, you can turn off the heat and add in any options you want. Some put in garlic, I personally put in mushrooms and a little black pepper. This is where it becomes your own sauce!
You can use the base to also make any kind of gravy you want! It's adaptable and easy to change if need be!
POUR OVER OR ON YOUR FAVORITE PASTA AND ENJOY!!!!!
