DIY Natural Hair Lightening

  • Recipe:

    2 tablespoons of honey

    2 tablespoons of cinnamon or cardamom (even though this will give the mixture a deep brown / red shade, it will not discolour or stain your hair)

    1 tablespoon of olive oil (If you have an aversion to the greasy sensation that olive oil can leave on the hair, even after trying to wash it out thoroughly, I recommend skipping this step as the honey cinnamon and water will do just fine without it.)

    Long hair: 1/2 cup of water
    Shorter hair: 1/4 cup of water

    Mix well and let the mixture sit for 1 hour to develop the naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide.

  • After you have let the mixture process, apply it to dry or towel dried hair. Prepare for an explosion of cinnamon drops with adequate toweling over your shoulders and anywhere else you would like to save from the mess!

    tie your hair in a bun and wrap with a towel and leave it for 1 hour. Please do not apply any heat as this will halt the bleaching process.

    You may need to shampoo your hair twice to remove all of the cinnamon and olive oil.

  • You can use coconut oil instead of olive oil if you want to restore your hair more!
