You Don't Need Land for a Farm
All you need:
medium and large pots that drain as the plants grow to maturity.
-you'll definitely need a grow light that can be placed very close to the plants.
Most salad greens don't need tons of direct light and don't like heat. They can also be grown in fairly shallow containers, but do benefit from wide spacing.
Grown in water, sprouts are incredibly easy with some daily tending.
Herbs are a great starter plant to grow indoors, and incredibly useful. Most herbs like to shoot their roots deep, so be sure to plant them in pots at least 8 inches deep. Also prune the herbs that flower to prevent the leaves from getting too bitter.
Garlic is pretty difficult to grow in containers, but garlic greens are as easy as buying a bulb of garlic from the grocery store and sticking one of the cloves in dirt. Literally, that's about it.
green onions will also grow rapidly with only a few inches of root and a cup of water, changed daily. Though you can continue regrowing a few times, you might want to consider eventually transferring to dirt if you want a heartier, healthier plant.
Root veggies are hearty and fairly easy to grow. You'll need a pot that as at least twice the depth of the mature root veggie, so a carrot that grows to 4 inches would need 8 inches of depth.
You'll have the most success with small varieties of tomatoes and peppers such as cherry/grape tomatoes and chiles or banana peppers
