Creamy Tomato Sauce. You Will Never Use One From A Jar Again!

2Tb Olive oil 1 onion, diced 2 minced garlic cloves 1(14.5 oz) can Italian style diced tomatoes, undrained 1Tb Italian seasoning 1tsp sugar Salt and pepper to taste 2/3c heavy cream (use as much as desired, you may substitute with milk but it won't be as thick) 2Tb unsalted butter
I usually double this recipe. I don't double the size of the onion or cream. With the cream I add 2Tb-2/3C depending on what I feel like. This recipe does not have to be exact! It is VERY forgiving and can fit almost any taste.
Sauté onion in oil over medium-high heat until soft. Add garlic and cook another minute(4-5in total)
Add tomatoes,Italian seasoning, sugar, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes or until liquid is gone. (I like to bring it to a boil then take it down to low heat and simmer for about a half hour so all the flavors are incorporated but sometimes you just don't
Have the time)
Remove from heat and add cream and butter.
Return to heat an simmer on medium-low heat for about 5-10 minutes until sauce has thickened.
We love this with smoked Italian sausage and bow tie pasta! Obviously you can do it with spaghetti, chicken, fish, whatever you want :)
