Cream Cheese Cookies

  • What you'll need are these simple ingredients :

    1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
    1 (6oz) package of cream cheese
    7/8 cup of oil and 2 tablespoons of water ( or 1 1/2 cups of butter softened)
    1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
    1/2 cup of granulated sugar
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons of vanilla
    5 cups of flour
    1/2 cup of butter ( only necessary if using oil; cause if using butter enough was added)
    Confectioners sugar
    Granulated sugar for rolling
    - cinnamon ( depending on your liking )

  • Preheat oven to 325 ( depending on your oven and it's temperature)

    Cream the butter, oil , and cream cheese
    Slowly add sugars and beat until fluffy
    Beat in egg and slowly add flour ( a cup at a time ) add vanilla and mix well.
    Chill dough for two hours or until you feel the dough is the right consistency

    After dough is done chilling and your ready to finish start by shaping the dough into 1 inch balls and roll granulated sugar and then the confectioner sugar ( just to help the conf sugar stick and show)

  • Place cookies on greased cookie sheet
    Bake for 8-10 minutes or until there is no they have no translucent shiny parts (the cookies will not brown; because of the cream cheese)

    If you would like a little sweetness to go on top of your cookies I usually make a lemon glaze

    Frosting ;;
    2 cups confections sugar
    4 tablespoons of lemon juice
    4 tablespoons of butter

    Cream cutter and add confectioners sugar
    Slowly add the lemon juice
    Scoop the frosting into a sandwich bag , snip off the tip. Use the Baggie to pipe lines of frosting on the cookies

  • Let cookies sit about 10 minutes after being removed from the oven on the pan to cool; then move to the plate you wish to frosting them on )
