  • Foundation can often look cakey on dry skin. To prevent this, add two pumps of moisturiser to your liquid foundation for smooth, flawless application.

  • There's nothing worse than when your mascara begins to dry out, leaving you with clumpy lashes. So instead of going out and buying a whole new tube, just place your mascara tube into a cup of boiling water for 5-10 minutes. This will melt the dried mascara, leaving it good as new!

  • It's important to set your make up with powder to make it last longer, but tinted powder can alter the colour of your face and too much can easily be applied, giving you the dreaded orange, cakey look. It can also be expensive, so for a cheap, easy solution, dust your face with baby powder! It works exactly the same, but is not tinted, therefore doesn't alter the colour of your face and doesn't cake.

  • Shampoos and hair products overtime leave a build up in your hair, making it dull and lacking shine and lustre. Baking powder can be used as a cheap and affective alternative to clarifying shampoos, leaving your hair beautiful and lustrous. Also, it contains no harmful chemicals, unlike many shampoos.

  • Apply slices of raw potato to your eyes for 10 minutes to reduce dark circles and puffiness.

  • For beautiful soft eyes that look natural, line your lower lashes with brown eyeliner, your upper lashes with black and your waterline with white (the white eyeliner makes your eyes look larger)

  • This face mask is brilliant for soft, glowing skin. Take 2 table spoons of coffee granules and half a table spoon of water and mix into a paste (add slightly more coffee or water if needed). Apply to your face and leave for 20 minutes, and wash off with warm water.

  • Next time you fall asleep in the sun and wake up with a painful sunburn, don't panic! Just take cucumber slices and rub over the burnt area for instant relief. The cucumber also reduces the redness of the burn.
