First I'm starting with some basic school supplies. The school supplies I'm listing are what I use for high school.
You'll need something to put all your papers in and binders are bigger and typically more durable than folders. I usually combine two classes into one binder. However, it depends on what classes you're taking, how many classes you have, and how big of a binder you get.
2. Spiral Notebooks
You can use these for taking notes instead of using your precious notebook paper that's used for homework. I am required to have this in Spanish and English class. They are great for taking notes.
3. Notebook Paper
I feel like this is pretty obvious. Use this to do class work and homework. I always try to keep a lot of this. You'd be surprised at how fast it's used up.
4. Pens and Pencils
I think this is pretty obvious too. I use mechanical and wooden pencils for doing work and use ink pens for taking notes and grading papers.
I cannot stress this enough. Highlighters are a must!!! These help with studying and taking notes. When the teacher tells you that something will be on the test while you're taking notes; highlight it!!!
You will definitely need a calculator for math class. Some math classes will require different calculators. For example: I needed a pretty simple calculator for algebra but I needed an expensive graphing calculator for geometry. Get the one that works best with what class you're in.
7. Index Cards
Index cards are great for studying. In my Spanish class, we are required to write our vocabulary out on index cards. I'm very glad we do that because it helps a ton when studying.
8. Scissors, Tape, and a Mini Stapler
I can't tell you how many times the teacher didn't have enough scissors for everyone or some other teacher stole her tape or stapler when we needed it most. So, I like to carry my own so I don't have to wait forever to borrow it or interrupt class to get it.
9. Mechanical Pencil Lead
This is if you use mechanical pencils. I pretty much only use mechanical and I'm always running out of lead so I end up borrowing a friends pencil. Try to keep a lot of this if you use mechanical pencils more than wooden.
You will probably have to type a report or use the computer at least once. Use a usb to keep everything safe and with you at all times.
Now I'm moving on to things I keep with me that aren't necessarily school supplies but still come in handy. A lot of these will be more for girls.
There will probably be a time when you get a runny nose but can't get up to get a tissue. That is why these are handy. These are great for runny noses and such but could also be for cleaning up small messes. Like drops of water, spilled hand sanitizer, busted ink pen, etc.
12. Hand Sanitizer
This is another thing that most classrooms have but sometimes you just can't leave your seat. That's why you should carry your own.
13. Hair Ties and Bobby Pins
Bad hair days happen often. Keep these with you to pick you up when your hair lets you down. Plus, if your class is like mine and has a ton of girls in it, there will always be someone in need of either of these things. It's always nice to share.
14. Pads, Tampons, Pantyliners, etc.
This is obviously just for girls. Ladies, this is an absolute must!!! You never know when Aunt Flo will decide to come visit.
15. Lip Balm
If you're like me, then your lips will get dry and chapped at the most random of times. You must be prepared and keep some lip balm with you to save your dry sad lips.
16. Gum and/or Mints
Sometimes your breath is pretty rank. Maybe it's because you forgot to brush your teeth. Or maybe the cafeteria served garlic bread. Always have mints or gum (if your school allows it) to keep your breath smelling fresh.
Obviously only if you have/need keys. If you drive (You probably already have your keys. Otherwise how did you drive?) then you'll need your car keys. If you ride the bus, then you might need your house key to get inside if no ones home. I feel stupid for even making this one but hey.
18. Deodorant and Perfume
I feel like this is pretty self explanatory. You definitely need this if you have PE. But it's smart to keep this even if you don't.
That's pretty much it for my backpack essentials list. I hope you enjoyed it and found it useful. Thanks for checking it out!!! Please don't forget to like and share!! ❤️
