Avoid Sand Flies In The Caribbean Beaches 🏖

  • As in any beach in the Caribbean, there is the possibility of being bitten by insects while at or around the beach, insects like mosquitos and sand flies.

  • Sand flies are endemic to the Caribbean. These tiny biting insects are barely visible to the naked eye, but their bites can be very annoying. The effects can be felt several hours after the initial contact. A small reddish welt, about the size of a freckle is a sure sign you have been bitten.

  • The best way to avoid getting bitten by sand flies and other insects is to apply insect repellent when you are outside. Remember these insects are most active in the early mornings and evenings.
