  • I love going shopping. If it was a sport I'd be in the Olympics jk. anyway sometimes it can get really tough to get a good haul of cute things with a lower budget!

  • Here are some stores that are totally worth checking out! These stores will buy your gently used clothes from you and will give you either cash or store credit(your choice) however they usually will give you more in store credit. However sometimes that's an amazing benefit when you want to do a little bit of shopping! Since these stores have been becoming more of a thing now they can be busy and take a little while going through your stuff(depending on how much is brought etc.) It sometimes takes about 30-60mins sometimes which gives you time to look.

  • Make sure what you bring in looks as nice as it can because they want things that are still "in" but don't look totally worn out! Also when you bring stuff in think about the seasons. I wouldn't recommend bringing in summer halter tops in September/October or a winter jacket in April/May. Lastly, don't get too discouraged if they don't buy or there is some stuff they don't buy. Sometimes they have had trouble selling that type of thing in the past or once I was told my stuff was a little more upscale than they like.BTW at some places you have to be 16 or 17 so take a parent if younger.

  • Here are some stores that function like this
    --Platos Closet
    --Uptown Cheapskate
    --clothes mentor
    --kid to kid
    --once upon a child
Do research before you go! I know platos puts on their site what they are highly looking for so you know what would be good to bring in! They also list what brands they love to see!

  • Here is a commercial of platos closet. I believe it is the biggest of the chains I listed. Its a pretty good place to shop if you want more casual stuff. Its mostly for teens and young 20's
  • This is Uptown Cheapskate! I don't think its as common as platos but has the same concept. I have noticed they seem to have a bit more of dressy than casual. I got a pair of uggs here once for about $60. they also have new items here from like overflow of stores I think
  • This is clothes mentor. Personally I haven't been there before but I think I have heard good things. Its basically again the same concept but its more for adults and work attire.
  • We know kids grow out of things so quickly. Kid to Kid is I believe owned by the same people who own uptown cheapskate. The one I went to seemed to have mostly little kid/baby stuff. It was also a little odd that they said they stop buying like an hour before they closed. I would still check it out.
  • Once Upon a child is good for both little kids and older kids who are still a little young for platos. There is also things like games, movies, books, and furniture(mostly for babies) there. I highly recommend if you have to get kid things.
  • So did you grow/lose weight recently? or are there items you haven't worn in forever? Bring them to stores like that for some extra cash! I would recommend if you are selling bring the stuff in earlier in the day and not right before they close Or you may have to wait till the next day.

I would also suggest exploring where you live to see if their are any consignment shops near you that aren't chains! There is one in the town I live in that is a lot like platos and one that is the in the town over that has more adult things but is very nice. I also love looking at antique shops!

  • Another great way to sell is with your phone! Poshmark is an app where you can buy and sell old clothes and accessories you don't want anymore. I would suggest asking a parent before using it and being more cautious because of it being via internet. my friend sold a candle on her account

  • Another great way to save money while shopping is The Volunteers of America and Goodwill! The only downfall is that they don't buy because they are volunteer organizations but you can get a tax return for bringing stuff in. These are great places to find not just clothes but furniture and other home things. I love to buy stuff from here and then upcycle them! Its so much fun and there are many things you can do

  • I hope you enjoyed this and will start thinking more about your shopping💕 "A penny saved is a penny earned"-Benjamin Franklin 😘
