7 tips on how to apply matte lipstick and make it last all day 👄
1-Exfoliate lips This process will help you get rid of dead skin cells on your lips making them look and feel soft and even from within which what we need when applying matte lip color.
How to exfoliate lips?
You can buy an exfoliant at Lush or you can make a home exfoliant.
1-Apply petroleum jelly and leave on for 45 -60 minutes.
2-Prepare a mixture by mixing brown sugar with coconut oil and after an hour from applying petroleu jelly, take some sugar scrub on a toothbrush and scrub your lips with it.
3-Continue gently scrubbing your lips for 1-3 minutes and wash off.
4-Pat dry and follow up with a moisturizing balm to keep your lips moist until you are ready to apply your lipstick.
2-Moisturize your lips (IMPORTANT)
NOT moisturizing the lips at all before applying matte lipstick is definitely a bigger blunder than applying a lip balm or lip gloss as overtime the lips lose their moisture and end up looking lifeless and cracked.
3-Apply foundation or concealer
To make the color pop and last longer, apply a thin layer of concealer or foundation before you apply matte lip color.
4-Lip liner is a must you can skip this step if you have really defined lips but if not, line your lips with a lip liner that is closest to the color of your matte lipstick. Make sure not to leave a thin line rather cover half of your lip with a lip pencil.
5-Use a brush
It's easier than directly apply your lipstick. 😌
6-DON'T PRESS YOUR LIPS TOGETHER
This is a common mistake that we all make, ‘pressing our lips together to spread the color all over the lips’. However, this is not really the best technique for matte lipsticks. So avoid this step when applying matte lip color.
7-Outline lips with concealer
To make the color and lips more prominent apply concealer around your lips and blend with a brush.
