7 Foundation Mistakes Almost Everyone Makes!
it's probably safe to say that applying foundation correctly is THE hardest part of doing your makeup. it takes a special technique of both selection and technique to make your skin look flawless and natural. the good news? they're easy fixes. need help? look no further! ➡️➡️➡️
NUMBER 1: using powder foundation 😳
powder foundations just won't give you the best finished look. they can enhance wrinkles, they often give a cake-like look, and the shimmery ones can enhance pores too. the most efficient thing to use is liquid foundation. the next page features some of the best foundations for day-to-day use. 😊➡️
NUMBER 2: testing foundation on your jaw. 🙅🏻
instead of testing your foundation on your jaw where the light varies, you should test on the underneath of your eyes or around your nose or even the uppermost part of your cheek or jawline. and one other small tip, do this on only one side of your face so you can compare with the other side that has no makeup on it. the best shade will appear as if it's disappeared into your skin. WHEN IN DOUBT: go slightly darker, not lighter.
NUMBER 3: avoiding the use of primer underneath your foundation. 😝
primer, as most know, helps foundation go on ten times smoother and obviously stay on for a longer period of time. the primers out now are more innovative and can do things like control shine, decrease wrinkle line looks, and boost radiance. here are some AMAZING primers. ➡️➡️
NUMBER 4: applying foundation with a sponge or your fingers. 😞
use foundation brushes instead! they use less product and are amazing at blending. sponges can be okay but they waste your product. they can also harbor bacteria and such when you reuse one certain sponge. make sure the brushes you pick are synthetic. here are some good brushes to use ➡️➡️
NUMBER FIVE: applying foundation all over your entire face. 😟
foundation is suppose to be for applying on the areas of your face where you really only need it. for example; the redness around your nose or chin, darkness around or underneath your eyes, and random blemishes or acne. the this enhances the importance of how well you blend the makeup (see previous page of brushes).
NUMBER 6: putting concealer under and not over your makeup. 🙈
think about this one for a second... what's the point of putting concealer under your makeup if you're going to end up smearing and making the application of your concealer thinner and more veil-like? just remember: foundation first, then concealer. use a brush to dab, then blend to perfection! 😁💁🏼 here are some great concealer picks and I'll add some concealer brushes, too! ➡️➡️
NUMBER 7: setting foundation with a powder and a big fluffy brush 👎🏼
if you want to set your foundation, use a translucent powder. the best thing about it is that it is fitted well for any skin tone shade! using a big fluffy brush keeps you from being able to set your make up in a precise manor. here are some good setters. ➡️➡️
