It’s important to exfoliate a few times a week to remove dry, flaky dead skin cells so a fresh new layer can form. Not doing so will result in flaky, patchy, itchy skin that doesn’t look nor feel good at all.
You don’t need to grind fresh beans just to give your skin a boost, the grounds used to brew your morning coffee can be re-purposed as an exfoliant. To make a paste for face and body, mix the grounds with your liquid of choice like olive oil, honey or plain yogurt.
Not only is oatmeal an exfoliant, it’s also very soothing on the skin (remember that oatmeal bath your mom drew when you had chicken pox?). Whether you want to grind the oats or use them whole is up to you. Mix them with your favorite natural moisturizing lotion and slough away that dead skin.
This is probably the most powerful of the natural exfoliants. Not only is it easy to find, it’s also inexpensive, so sea salt is a no-brainer. A mixture of sea salt and water in the morning opens pores and gets skin looking and feeling fresh for the day. Don’t forget to use a toner after washing!
Not only do ground almonds work as an excellent exfoliant, their natural oils nourish and supplement the skin with essential vitamins. Grind almonds or buy pre-ground at the grocery store and mix with a wet ingredients to reap the benefits!
