  • 2. MUSIC

    Music is one of the most common and most effective stress relievers, for all ages. However, people have different genres of music that will help them relieve stress, pretty much depending on how the person feels at the moment, or what generally makes them happy. If you don't know what music will work best for you, here are some samples of different genres that are most common for stress relief.

  • 3. YOGA

    You hear many people talk about how much they love yoga and how well it helps them relax, but have you ever tried it? Lots of people have a preconceived idea that yoga is only for ridiculously flexible people, and that it's just a bunch of crazy stretching and stuff, but really anyone can do it. If you're really stressed, just take a deep breath and do some of these simple, stress relieving poses.

  • 4. MEDITATION

    Mediation is the art of completely relaxing you mind. When I meditate, I like go to a comfortable spot, specifically in a dark and quiet room, and just rest until both mind and body is calm. During mediation, either think of things that are calming or think of nothing at all.

  • 5. EXERCISING

    Even if you don't typically live an active lifestyle, exercising still may be a great stress reliever for you, so long as you don't strain your body too much and defeat the purpose. What I typically do is I just go run a few miles someplace beautiful, but whatever type of exercise helps relieve stress for you just depends on the person.

  • 6. PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION

    I did this in my P.E. class earlier today and honestly it's one of the most fantastic things I've ever experienced before. You start by tensing a part of your body (let's say your hands) and clench them into fists for about ten seconds and then releasing and relaxing. Then you move on to tensing the muscles in your forearm, then biceps, shoulders, etc. do this until you have relaxed everything from you fingers to your toes. This is another miracle stress reliever that clears the mind and relaxes the body at the same time.

  • 7. AROMATHERAPY

    Light some candles! Science has proven thAt certain smells easily calm the body. One of the most popular ones would be lavender, which is proven to relieve stress. However, it once again depends on the person. With my sweet tooth, I enjoy the scent of chocolate or sugar cookie, and even fruity smells!

  • 8. IMAGERY

    Whenever I'm stressed, I just like to imagine I'm in a different place. One with no worries and just pure bliss. With this, you can either imagine the place yourself, or listen to it!

  • 9. SLEEP

    Getting a good night sleep is important for you physical and emotional well being. When you're tired, things become more stressful and harder than when you're well rested. Just like Ben Franklin said, "Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise!" (Or at least that's what I thinly the quote was)

  • 10. FRIENDS

    Get together with some good an trustworthy friends! Whether you want to talk about what's stressing you out, or just get your mind off of it is your choice, but be sure to have fun!
